Now going our third year, Tibet Film Festival returns with a selection of inspiring films, celebrating Tibetan art and culture, whilst offering an in-depth and timely critical insight into the Tibet issue. In the month that will see the 75th birthday of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, the festival will run throughout July in London before going on tour.

The festival largely focuses on new films made by independent filmmakers, with a particular focus on work by young and emerging Tibetan filmmakers, Indian filmmakers and women filmmakers. Two strong themes have emerged in this year's programme - the vulnerability and significance of Tibet's fragile environment on one hand, and the importance of music in preserving, defining and constructing Tibetan national identity.

Tibet Film Festival is a purely non-profit initiative and this year we will be donating any proceeds from the festival to community projects in the Tibetan exile community through Tibet House Trust (charitable wing of Office of Tibet, the official agency of His Holiness the Dalai Lama for the UK, Northern Europe, Poland and the Baltic States). We will also be supporting the relief efforts in the Kyegudo area of the Kham region of Tibet which was struck by a devastating earthquake on 14th April 2010.
